The Taj Motel Trio - Their name may be misleading but the sound they release on stage is undeniable. The Taj Motel Trio is a 7 piece ska/punk band hailing from the small rural county of Habersham in Georgia. These seven ska pioneers have already claimed their place as one of the best bands on the East Coast, rocking out every performance with high-energy, up-beat music and melody lines so catchy you can’t help but take the party with you. They've played many high-profile shows, including the Vans Warped Tour in August 2002 alongside national acts including The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, NOFX, Reel Big Fish, Five Iron Frenzy, Good Charlotte, Bad Religion, Flogging Molly, MxPx, New Found Glory, and Andrew W.K and opening for Bon Jovi in Atlanta, February ‘06. They have also toured much of the East Coast opening for a variety of premier ska bands such as The Toasters, Catch 22, The Planet Smashers, and The Pietasters.
After performing at the 2002 Vans Warped Tour in Atlanta, The Taj Motel Trio has been playing non-stop on the East Coast, performing over 100 shows over the past 3 years including performances at the world renown CBGB’s in New York City and the Hard Rock Café in Atlanta. In 2003, the group was invited to perform at the 1st annual Ska Weekend in Knoxville, TN, an annual ska festival featuring some of the best musical groups in the genre, and will perform at this year’s event for the 4th consecutive time, being one of only two bands to be invited back every year.
The Taj Motel Trio’s song “She’s Mad” was chosen to be a part of Still Standing, the most anticipated ska compilation to date. The band’s EP, Feels the Force, is currently in its third printing and their most recent album, Life of the Party received rave reviews from Brandon Allin from AbsolutePunk.
“While some tracks on Life of the Party are considerably shorter than most listeners would prefer, each track manages to offer something everyone can enjoy, and I applaud the band for their marvelous, successful efforts. The Taj Motel Trio have created an album packed from beginning to end with fan-favourites, and enough infectious energy to keep any listener raving for months to come. Each member of the band consistently shines at all given opportunities, and it's safe to say that these musicians have quite the futures before them. Additionally, and on a closing note, I'd like to quickly draw attention once more to the bands eruptive horn section, which without a doubt contains some of the most well-playing musicians I have ever come across. I'm undoubtedly excited to hear what the band will do next, but I assure you that if it gives me a feeling anywhere close to the one Life of the Party did, I'll find myself in awe once more.”
Now preparing to record their 4th self-released album, The Taj Motel Trio is becoming one of the premier live bands in the Southeast US and is considered one of the best bands performing in the ska scene today. Members of the group include Ben Sanders (Guitar/Lead Vocals), Josh Wow (Bass), Kevin Rose (Drums) and a 4-piece brass section including Nick Kastner (Cornet), Zach Hill (Trumpet), and Jay Tench and Peter Williams (Trombone).
