Packie was born in 1904 in Ballinamuck, Co. Longford. He emigrated to New York in 1919, made a number of fantastic recordings, but died when the ferryboat exploded on his way to work. He wasn't even thirty years old. His recordings have been re-released by Harry Bradshaw under the title Packie Dolan The Forgotten Fiddle Player of the 1920s.
