The tribute album from Japan, celebrating the 80th anniversary of Blue Note Records, the strongest jazz label ever!
Blue Note Record, a jazz label that celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2019. It is an innovative label that has released many masterpieces representing the times from Miles Davis to Norah Jones, and has continued to lead the scene for a long time. In September, the documentary movie “Blue Note Records Beyond Jazz (Original title: BLUE NOTE RECORDS-BEYOND THE NOTE) '(Director: Sophie Hoover) has been released in Japan and is attracting attention again.
This work is a tribute album from Japan produced to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Blue Note. Takuya Kuroda, Akihiro Nishiguchi, Meiko Inoue, Jun Miyagawa, Ai Kuwahara, Ryuta Kakuda, Tomoaki Kanno, and Satoshi Ishiwaka formed a special band for this project. In January and July this year, 7 famous songs representing the label that were performed at the event “BLUE NOTE plays BLUE NOTE” held in Minami Aoyama and Blue Note Tokyo were recorded in the Tokyo studio.
The tracks included 'Virgin Voyage' (Herbie Hancock), 'Song for My Father' (Horace Silver), 'The Sidewinder' (Lee Morgan), 'Cleopatra's Dream' (Bud Powell) Not only blue notes but also great hit songs in jazz history. They will be revived with fresh arrangements of members and fresh performances that can only be heard here.
