The synthpop/dark electro hybrid project tEaR!doWn was born right in the middle of the past decade in Northern Germany. Heavily influenced by seminal North American electro-industrial acts, the band experimented with various electronic musical instruments and gradually developed their signature sound. In late 2006, Oliver Spring, the former front man of Sleepwalk, joined the band and added his powerful voice to this tunes. The essence of the early work was releases in 2008 on tEaR!doWn's self-published CDr Demo Mind!Kick. From 2008 onwards, tEaR!doWn have played live shows in Germany and Switzerland on a regular basis and continually refined their sound.
In 2011 tEaR!doWn were presented to a larger audience when they appeared on Electro Aggression Records groundbreaking boxset 'Oldschool Electrology Vol. 1 (EAR 001)'.
2013 saw the release of the 2CD album 'Clouds cover the Sun' on Electro Aggression Records (EAR 005). On this CD the band's unique blend of synthpop and dark electro masterfully shifts from hard mid and up-temp grooves to beautifully crafted atmospheric undertones, all of this enriched by Spring's slightly distorted vocals. The album is accompanied by a remix disc, fittingly titled 'Torn Down Reconstructed', featuring a mouth-watering line up of classic electro acts and mega-talented neo-old school bands. After this release tEaR!doWn reduced the activities and except some more live shows there was not much to be heard for the following years, both members took more time for their family life and side projects.
2017 marked the end of a 4-year hiatus. tEaR!doWn's fruitful collaboration with Electro Aggression Records resulted in the sophomore full length album 'Shades of Apathy' (EAR 011). The new opus picks up where 'Clouds Cover the Sun' left off. Oliver Spring's sombre and undistorted vocals effectively blend into tEaR!doWn's brooding electo-industrial beats and melodic synth lines. Simply put, 'Shades of Apathy' is the culmination of years of carefully crafted soundscapes combined with punchy machine drums and crisp bass loops. Immerse yourself on a fantastic dark electro journey skilfully intertwined with catchy synth hooks!
