Avenger Of Blood Death Brigade Heavy Artillery Records Right from the first punch in Vicious Onslaught you are immediately thrown into the crossfire that is “Death Brigade”. Everything that makes Thrash awesome is in this CD, from howitzer crushing drums to hard firing guitar rhythms, screaming guitar solos, punchy bass, snarling vocals that are slightly and the only thing on this CD that is reminiscent of Kreator. There is so much more to this CD than the Kreator comparison that most zines seem to just lump this album in, which to makes me want to question if these so-called CD reviewers even took the chance to listen to Death Brigade, or did they just throw it on scan and review it that way. Each song is just ruthless, unmerciful, and not willing to let up on the listener. How can you ignore any album that includes a song like “Poserslaughter”? This is the war cry that most of us older thrashers have been waiting for, finally questioning the validity of those who claim to be Metal. Another blistering track is the frothing Bloodseeker, which has left this listener’s neck sore after repeated listens. As stated before, there is FAR more to this CD than the Kreator comparison. I hear Sodom, old Death, Slayer, and much more. The only thing this album suffers is a bit of a low mix, other than that “Death Brigade” kills. This is a CD that no Thrash fanatic can live without. If you require Metal with training wheels then “Death Brigade” is not for you. This CD is not meant to be listened with headphones, the only way is to duct tape your stereo speakers to your head, or every speaker in your surround sound to your body.
