Биография

Немецкая speed-power-metal команда Blind Guardian, черпающая вдохновение из средневековых саг и фэнтезийных книг, была образована в 1985 году в городке Krefeld, первоначально под названием Lucifer's Heritage. Основателями коллектива считаются Andre Olbrich и Hansi Kursch, знакомые еще со школьной скамьи. Первую свою демо-запись 'Symphonies of Doom' группа выпустила в том же 1985, приобретя одновременно с этим и некоторую известность. В состав Lucifer's Heritage тогда, помимо Ханси и Андре, входили гитарист Marcus Dork и барабанщик Thomas Stauch. На следующий год, уже в измененном составе - Christoff Theissen с гитарой и Hans-Peter Frey за барабанной установкой - было записано второе демо - 'Battalions Of Fear' - ставшее более успешным, чем предыдущее, и позволившее Lucifer's Heritage получить контракт с независимым лэйблом No Remorse Records. После этого название коллектива в срочном порядке было заменено на Blind Guardian, а внутри самой группы снова произошла смена состава – ритм-гитаристом стал Marcus Siepen, а за барабаны снова уселся Томас. С тех пор состав BG не менялся вплоть до 2005 года. Большая часть материала для дебютного альбома была взята с последнего демо, который к тому же и назван был точно так же - 'Battalions Of Fear'.
