Well-known Canadian singer-songwriter, Bob Carpenter's first and only album, Silent Passage, was produced by Brian Ahern and recorded between 1971 and 1974. Background vocals on that album were supplied by Anne Murray and Emmylou Harris. Apparently 25,000 copies were pressed but never left the Warehouse due to some legal problems. It wasn't until 1984 when Holger Peterson obtained rights to release the album on Stony Plain. Bob Carpenter, aged 50, passed away July 19, 1995 from brain cancer.
The rare solo album from Canadian singer-singerwriter Bob Carpenter -- a really lovely record that mixes Bob's gritty and emotional folk rock tunes with some sweeter studio touches! The album was recorded from the early to mid 70s, had a troubled release history and deserved better. An endearing mix of gruff lead vocals with honest emotion and no nonsense acoustic guitars, but other tunes have a bigger sound with keys, strings and female backing vocals.
