I've already read a lot about RITUAL STEEL and their almost mythical single Orchid Queen, without having heard a single note myself yet. At least in the underground the Teutonic Metalians have an almost godlike status. That RITUAL STEEL have turned towards the trend free, true Heavy Metal and have nothing to do with trend currents like Sympho Speed or even Nu-Metal, is pretty obvious.

Brand new on the market is the new RITUAL STEEL album “Blitz Invasion” and the increase compared to the debut “Hell Of A Knight” is more than remarkable. Especially the vocal performance by Sir Lord Doom aka Sascha Maurer has won a lot of maturity and depth. By now he can compete with the better representatives of the US Power Metal guild. Despite the rather mid-rough pitch Sascha still delivers some shrill shrieks, as on “Metalbeasts”. But not as embarrassing/culty as still on “Where Shall I Sleep and he also speaks French, well, at least sing in it. But also the performance of the band is good. Sure, we do not have any instrumental gods on offer here, but simple fans with solid abilities on their instruments, yet with the heart in the right spot and the right feeling for the true spirit of Heavy Metal.
