We may not rule the world when it comes to internationally successful hard rock or heavy metal bands here in Norway. But, as everybody else seems to ignore the metal-scene in our part of the world, Scream Magazine, Norway's no.1 hard rock and heavy metal magazine, decided that something had to be done. Knowing the scene in Norway very well, we have selected 8 national bands we think has something to offer, and given them a chance to prove themselves on this compilation. We hope that this album will help these bands to get signed.
Why progressive metal? Well, we think that there is so much exciting going on, and especially in this genre. We are all aware of bands like Fates Warning, Queensryche and Dream Theater, but in their shadows, behind the top-class bands, there are numerous bands who are influenced by this technical and exciting form of music. We have not searched the market for second-rate copies, but rather tried to breathe new life into the scene. On this compilation you will find a selection of bands which in some way can be related to progressive or technical metal.
Hopefully this album will give you an idea of what's going on here in Norway.
