German band Voice really surprised me with their third album ‘Golden Signs’. Really good heavy metal with fine guitar work and the great vocals of singer Oliver Glas. I must honestly admit that I was not aware of their first two records, but on the basis what I’ve heard on ‘Soulhunter’ I will definitely try to find these first two releases and add them to my personal collection.
The music of Voice is quite heavy, but still has enough melody to also attract the main part of the melodic rock fans. ‘Soulhunter’ is just a real fine album, with excellent guitar work of Thommy Neuhierl and great vocals of the already mentioned Oliver Glas. The compositions are great and you will not regret it if you purchase this record.
The problem of Voice is that they are performing a musical style that is very popular nowadays, so it will be hard to really attract the attention of the general public. I know lots of bands that are far worse than Voice, but I also know lots of bands that are much better. Despite this, Voice has released a very enjoyable records for most of the heavy metal fans. As most of the AFM releases (it’s really becoming a quality label) you won’t regret it if you purchase this one.
