World of Silence is a progressive metal quintet from Karlstad, Sweden formed in early ?90?s around the excellent musician and composer Mathias Sandquist. They manage to release only two albums at Black Mark production, first release Widow of heaven in 1996 was almost unnoticed in prog metal zone and second and aswell their final release before disbanding in 2000 named Mindscapes from 1998 ? much better then the first and better appreciated by the public. In the band featuring 3 members from another Swedish metal band, more towards melodic death metal named Godgory, the keyboardist, the bass player and the guitar player . The music is towards Dream Theater, the more melodic side , with some more operatic parts coming from vocal department. The keyboards sound atmospheric and the arrangements are quite complex. The music should please every fan of Dream Theater, the more atmospheric side, Avalon (Germany), Scudiero or Elegy (Holland) among others.

Hot in the new signings category is Black Mark Production which continues with its policy as underlined in the company's mission statement. It reads thus: Were the band Swedish, unknown except for the pub circuit, and having zero interest from any other label, then we shall and must sign them. As such, the latest Swedish band to form and by birth right sign to Black Mark has now released an album and after a couple of spins it is clear that the band specializes in covering Dream Theater. Whether Black Mark will support or promote this album or not is unclear at the moment for, after all, remember that the band was signed merely on the basis of its origin and not because the label had actually listened to the music. Therefore, we (and the band) will have to wait and see whether the company is currently interested in such music or not. As for the fans, if you have purchased other recent releases by the label and found yourself into Swedish bar bands then you might want to get this one too. If not, and you are actually selective at how you spend your money, then perhaps waiting for the new Necrophobic (which actually just came out), or a new Seance might be a better option. — Ali The Metallian
