Биография
Inspired to name themselves after a fictional fight move in a 1962 Japanese comic, The Izuna Drop hatched a plan to combine metal with digital elements of dubstep and drum n' bass. The band itself was formed by vocalist Jon Ayre in 1999 and went under the name Shellshock.
Under this name the band hit the top of the independent charts in Japan with their first release 'Laws of Rebellion', and worked with the respected Weller/Hill partnership (Sikth) on their second release 'Born From Decline' which, strangely, features the actor who plays Barney the Dinosaur, Giles Stoakley. Giles isn't the only actor the band have worked with though. The video for the single 'The Maze' features Daniel Brockelbank, who received a Film Actors Guild Award for his role in Shakespeare in Love. Daniel is most recently known for his part in Coronation Street in which he plays the part of a homosexual priest.
Over the years the band have toured with the likes of Enter Shikari, Skindred and the now infamous Lostprophets and were even selected by Marilyn Manson to appear on the cover CD of his guest editorial instalment of Metal Hammer magazine.
The impressive regime of Shellshock was brought crashing down, however, following the tragic death of their guitarist Rafe Chiles, and the decision to change their name to The Izuna Drop came in 2013 following a series of subsequent changes in personnel. The band features Jon Ayre, UK Subs drummer Jamie Oliver, Joel Barnes on synth/guitar/backing vocals, bassist Tom Mason and guitar pro Matt Prior.
